The catheter and protective foil are inserted into the sow and at 5-10 cm the catheter is pushed through the foil. KRUUSE catheter gel has been applied to the foam tip.
This procedure ensures optimal hygiene conditions as the catheter will not be exposed to bacteria during insertion through the vulva due to the protective foil, which is broken upon reaching the clean area . Advantages: low risk of infection and no application of extra gel is needed.
